Normally, when researching a feature or conducting an interview for a newspaper or magazine, I expect to take a camera with me and provide images as well as words: in two of the cases here that was not possible, because I interviewed Elvis Costello by telephone and Tom Robinson by email. I was too late to interview Horatio Nelson.
